Color Your World

Personal Note From Tonya

Are you a workshop junkie?

Taking a class is fun! It's filled with great energy, fabulous people, and lots to learn. There is sort of a high that comes from being in class, right?

I love taking classes to add that new technique, material, and to meet new people. It's an opportunity to explore our creativity and give a boost to our mental health! When you are out of your element the brain is able to make new connections, new leaps to progressive ideas or new ideas.

The best part for me is making the connection with others. Do you actively step outside your comfort zone to connect?

I am, yes, inherently shy. I am afraid, yes I said it, of what people will think of me and of their judgements. So I find myself battling, why yes, myself when I enter a room. It's me against me. I'm always working on stepping out of my way and take a risk to take that quantum leap.

I attended a business conference this week where I was exposed to new people, new ideas, and new methods. One of our exercises was to decide which quantum leap was the one that resounded most with us as an area we need to work on.

A huge majority of the people in the room identified with this quantum leap: Get Uncomfortable!

Do you often step outside your box by trying a new method, a new idea, a new marketing idea, a new business system, new friends, new shows?

Maybe one of your goals to finish out this year would be to do something that would make you get uncomfortable. Fear is certain but courage is the act of proceeding anyway. Time to get uncomfortable....

Try something new, meet someone new, create something new!

Creative Blessings,

I am a budding PMC artist and have been ordering my supplies from Whole Lotta Whimsy for over a year now.

I cannot tell you how amazing Tonya Davidson and her staff have been. My orders have been filled and shipped quickly with individual instructions accompanying the products, questions about my order have been addressed by contacting me so as to make sure that the order was filled as I wanted, their selection of PMC supplies and pricing is the best in the field, and while I have never met Tonya personally, she has never failed to answer my questions about products and/or techniques in a prompt and helpful manner.

In addition, the Whole Lotta Whimsy website with it's tutorials, newsletter, and Tonya's blog are a wealth of information for the artist. I only wish I lived closer so that I could attend the classes.

Whole Lotta Whimsy goes above and beyond in providing the artist with the best supply source, a treasure trove of information and technique tutorials, and the ultimate in customer service... such a breath of fresh air!

Whole Lotta Whimsy has become my primary source for supplies... Thank you Tonya and staff!

Color Your Work To Set It Apart

Do you use color in your work? Is it the same ole colorways you've always used or maybe you don't even use color other than with stones.

Certainly if you work in polymer, glass, resins, or ceramics you probably are comfortable with color or it's a primary element of your work. Many of you may strictly work in metal, but may be considering using another medium to incorporate with metal to:

  1. Add interest and set your work apart
  2. Decrease the cost of your materials (COGS)

I love following Pantone's seasonal forecasts because consumers are willing to try out these colors as the jewelry then will compliment the fashions they are buying.

They give you color combinations and themes. Best of all, it gives you the opportunity to change up your offerings with the same colors you always use, and step outside that comfort zone.

By trying new color patterns you might attract new customers, feel a revitalization of your work, and gain new insights to what consumers are wanting to purchase.
