Personal Note from Tonya

Happy Spring!

I hope this finds you and your family making room for new abundance and opportunities for 2012.

I just returned from taking a great class on design, etching, laminating metals, and patinas! My team was at a technology/marketing event at the same time. So we are all just bubbling over with new inspiration!

One of the things I love the most about spring is the cleaning out of the old (whether this is in your garden, your studio or cleaning up your books) and welcoming in the new!

It's all about planting seeds for new growth and new possibilities.

I'm knee deep in this personally and professionally. It's like that urge to nest. I have "ants in my pants" to make room for new abundance! How else do you explain the feeling of vibrating bliss and excitement about the future?

So I've been busy putting items in clearance at Whole Lotta Whimsy, cleaning up my studio and office and planting new seeds of growth professionally/personally.

What does this spring bring for you?

I'd love to connect with you! Join us next Sunday, April 15th, on Whole Lotta Whimsy's Facebook page for the Sunday Social Circle. You can tell us all about your work, where to find you (FB, Etsy, Website), and connect with nearly 200 other fantastic artists in our Create + Connect + Collaborate "secret" forum!

Have a super holiday weekend and TAKE ACTION on planting magical seeds of possibilities! I see "daffodils, tulips, and gerberas" popping up all around you!

Creative Blessings,

PS - Thank you for letting me into your email inbox. I do appreciate it! If you have a friend that would benefit from getting these emails, please share it!!!

WLW......WholeLottaWhimsy and a WholeLottaWonderful!

Every now and then we've purchased our metal clay supplies from WLW. Of late, however, they've been making many new additions to their product line and now offer a more complete selection than ever to choose from! So take a "stroll" through their shopping link and see for yourself. You'll find the usual and necessary accessories and supplies as well as some you won't find anywhere else.

And with customer service being at the top of my list......well, you've come to the right place! Tonya and staff add that personal touch in promptly answering any questions or concerns you may have, something you don't often experience in today's world.

Fact is, Susie ( my better half ) and I will be turning to WholeLottaWhimsy more often than not for our metal clay needs.

Executing the Design Process:

Barbara Becker Simon's Helpful Tips

We were so lucky to have had Barbara share her wisdom with us in 5 of the Master Muse Tutorials. Her Design Challenge Tutorials were #2, #11, #22, #30, #39 and #47. You will definitely want to check out the synopsis of her tutorials.

In her Spiral Clasp in CopprClay(tm) Master Muse Tutorial #2 she shares several of her design tips.

  1. To easily make your own design template:
Design your piece on paper and then transfer it to vellum or tracing paper.

  2. Place this vellum design onto a soft surface such as Fun Foam. Using a Needle Tool, punch holes through the lines on the vellum or tracing paper.

  3. Condition your clay and roll it out. If you are going to be carving or embedding objects you will want it thicker. Make sure it's big enough that you can cut out the shape easily.

  4. Place the punched vellum/tracing paper design, ragged hole side down, onto the clay. Press lightly with your fingers to outline the designer.

  5. Remove and you'll see the design!

  6. Now you can cut out your design with a QuikArt Stylus, Craft Knife, or Super Slim Needle Tool.

This fantastic and popular tutorial is available at Whole Lotta Whimsy. It's 42 photos and steps, on thick glossy cardstock, that take you from the actual design concept, thru execution, to stringing the final piece. No secret or trick left untold!

* Special Offer! *

If you order it prior to April 11th at midnight PT, we'll take $5.00 off the price and throw in the Tutorial Stand, a $6.50 value. Just mention DAFFODILS in the comment section of your order.

You'll find Barbara on Facebook at "Barbara Becker Simon Glass and Metal Clay" and also at www.bbsimon.com. She will be teaching at Bead and Button and the PMC Guild Conference this summer. Be sure and add her to your list of must-take classes!
