Whole Lotta Whimsy is owned and operated by Sharon Dickerson and Tonya Davidson. For 10 years they owned 2 paint-it-yourself pottery studios in Tucson, AZ (which they sold in 2006). Whole Lotta Whimsy began in 2002. It was an extension of the products they made available in their store, which included PMC and Art Clay.
Tonya Davidson's creative background includes textile design, off-loom sculptural bead work, metal clay, metalsmithing, enameling, mosaics, contemporary ceramics, glass fusion, glass casting and lampworked glass. She holds a BS in Interior Design and a second degree in Marketing. She served on the board of the Contemporary Ceramics Studio Association (CCSA) from 2000-2002.
Tonya began experimenting with PMC back in 1997. She became a certified artisan of Art Clay in 1999 and was one of the first six Senior Instructors chosen for Art Clay back in early 2000. She also served as the first Newsletter Editor for Art Clay. She then went on to represent PMC Connection as a Senior Teacher from 2002 - 2006. Currently she is one of the 9 senior instructors on the Rio Rewards Faculty. Tonya specializes in setting up bead stores and contemporary studios with PMC nationwide. She also teaches PMC and other media locally in her studio. She was the recipient of an international award for her metal piece, Falling Leaves, in the 2000 Silver Accessories contest held by the AIDA corporation in Japan. She has been published in several books and magazines and enjoys combining art with business.
Sharon Dickerson's creative background is extensive in its range of media. Her Sioux Indian heritage gives her a rich basis for her creative inspiration. She has won numerous awards for her pen and ink drawings, oil paintings, ceramic paintings and textile designs. She owned a fiber arts business for 15 years before opening Tucson's first contemporary ceramic studio with Tonya. She has also had a distinguished career in nursing for over 20 years.
We hope you'll let us share a bit of our artistic passion with you through our products and our teaching services. The Bible says that "artisans are touched with the spirit of wisdom." We give thanks that we are able to share this with others and enjoy that spirit within ourselves.
