Quarter Pot Firing Container: 3 1/8" x 5 5/8" x 4 3/4" tall. Holds approximately 3 oz of carbon (sold separately)
Small Quarter Pot Firing Container: 3 1/8" x 3 1/8" x 3 1/2" tall.
These firing containers are perfect for front loading kilns.
Ceramic vessels will not oxidize, therefore no flakes in your kiln.
- Test bronze and copper clay to determine the best firing temperature for your kiln. Blisters are an indication of over fired metal.
- For firing PMCpro or BronzClay you can remove the container as soon as it is done firing. Make sure you have proper safety equipment and a heat proof surface on which to place it. Remove soot and then stir a few times to cool the carbon. With a Treasure Sifter (slotted spoon) remove your pieces. It is recommended to quench in water.
- For firing CopperClay wait for the temperature after firing cycle is complete, to drop to 900F. Open the door one inch and wait for the temp to drop to 600F. Now you may remove from the kiln.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Although these firing vessels are virtually thermal shockproof, removing them from a kiln at temperatures while still red hot is NOT advised as there are risks involved. If you have time, wait until it is fully cooled before removing from kiln, for your best safety. Otherwise, it is wise to have floor coverings, wear cotton clothes, closed-toe shoes, hair tied back, and heat proof surfaces next to kiln.
These are handmade from molds not machined. Therefore they are not perfect and will have imperfections. Also the lids are not supposed to fit perfectly. It's actually preferrable to prop the lid just slightly when firing. So the lid doesn't not need to fit perfectly.
