The Threaded Insert is great for just about any material. Make a hole the same size as the outer measurements of the Threaded Insert, not including it's threads. Then insert a screwdriver into the slot and screw down into the hole. The threads grip inside the material (wood, Faux Bone, polymer clay etc) permanently. The Threaded Insert is also threaded inside. So now it can accept a threaded screw to cold connect pieces. If you are working with concrete, polymer or resin you might want to also consider the T-Blind Nut which is also threaded.
