Gilders Paste is comprised of various waxes, resins and high concentration of pigments. They provide resistance to water and common chemical reagents with enhanced tint retention and hiding ability for coloring and highlighting objects.
It smells just like shoe polish, so it might work great on faux bone. Try and let us know!
Please note: Some Gilder's Pastes will arrive appearing very hard. This is normal.
"Gilders Paste is formulated to become a dry, hard and durable wax finish. This process is perfectly normal condition and this condition allows dry brushing the paste with complete control of application. Rejuvenate the paste in a smaller area by adding a few drops of paint thinner and mix in. As more thinner is added you will transform Gilders Paste into a cream, paint, stain or wash,. No need to mix up the whole tin at once. Gilders Paste goes and very long way. Having two areas of different viscosities provides two techniques of application in one product. Also the process to rejuvenate make for a very long shelf life and no waste. We do answer this process on the back of the tins, in our brochures as well as on our website.
You can use paint thinner, mineral spirits or turpentine for mixing and softening the paste."
